Why the 8800GTS and not the GT? GT is based on new NV92 65nM chip hence onboard fan runs very quiet wich is kind of important for a media center setup.

not a bad system, what os are you intending on running on this?

personally speaking i use my original xbox running xbmc as my media center for the living room its also got a 500gb nas attached to it through my lan and boots relay quick

however you build seems to be ok,
it would be nice to get a full breakdown of your hardware and a report on how well it performs once you have had a chance to play with it.

Yeah, good idea, get rid of all the old junk and get a decent computer.
Btw. why only 4GB in a media server and not 8GB? It would be more ....

will do this weekend m8 case should be here tomorrow and im off to get the cpu cooler prolly friday just to make shure it fits in the case

Looking to build a shuttle based multi media pc in the new year but I'm totally biased as only use linux and will probably go this way.
